Learning in class-y environment
It's always a blessing if such project comes around. A chain of Canadian pre-schools, schools and high schools is opening their new amazing spaces in Czech Republic and we are happy to be part of it! The brief was to respect existing brand identity (logo and 2 shades of red) and create a visual language for all their interiors. It should be playful, it can be educational and it must reflect typical elements of both our specific locations - meaning historical/natural/cultural monuments of Canada and Czech Republic, specifically Olomouc and Brno as these are the first two locations opened here.
So, I made a flexible landscape sustaining of hills, mountains, rivers, buildings/monuments, trees, clouds and mainly - animals with a few people to keep them company. Where the space allowed - the animals were life-sized 1:1 and they had a subtle infographics with measurement to help the kids imagine the actual scale and maybe even compare themselves to different animal friends. For smaller kids, the animals helped them count or express specific vocabulary as all learning here is in english, it is useful to have both Czech and English represented in the space.
Also a system of way-finding and pictograms was developed and implemented through floor stickers and plywood signage.
